The  city  of  Ujjain  has  vital   historical  facts  linked  to  Lord  Rama,Narayan
Krishna, Sripalmahamuni,   Anukumpacharya,   Bhadrabhau,  Mahasatimaina
sundri, Mahasati Manorma etc.

Munishree Pragyasagarji  Maharaj when arrived in Ujjain and studies the historical facts of
the city and than  relealized importance of this heavenly place .On the other hand he was said
to learn that the Jain  Samaj  in  Ujjain  had  done  nothing  to  make  this city  proud  of  their
religion. Munishree organized lot of meeting with jain community and finally a mandate was
passed to construct “SHREE MAHAVIR TAPOBHUMI”in Ujjain .

Now the mandate having been passed, a big question  arose  as  to  find a suitable  site  for  the
temple, although the whole  of  Ujjain city  is  holy  and  heavenly.  Lot  of  time  manpower was
utilized to search for a  appropriate  site   for  the proposed  temple.  Finally  on  Ujjain-Indore
highway a piece of land was finalized with the  consent  Munishree.  On 17th November 2005
in the presence of thousands of people the “Bhumi Pujan” ceremony was performed.
